Thank You Teachers! Celebrating Teacher Appreciation Week

In honor of Teacher Appreciation Week 2023 (May 8-12), we asked teachers to nominate a colleague to receive special recognition during this well-deserved week.

Let’s hear it for all the teachers for their daily hard work to take exceptional care of their students!

There were so many amazing nominations! Here are a few that stood out.  

  • Taylor Berry, 2nd Grade Teacher, Ruthlawn Elementary
    “Taylor demonstrates extensive knowledge of students' social, emotional, and academic needs, interests, and learning styles. e plans and implements differentiated learning activities with students. Ms. Berry helps colleagues understand the unique characteristics of all learners.”

  • Jennifer Chamoun, Special Education Teacher, Mort Elementary A Community Partnership School
    “Not only does Jennifer Chamoun push her kids to perform better academically, but she also helps them to blossom and be confident. She can see things that no one else can and helps her students become confident within a year and forever.”

  • Melissa Darrow, Reading Specialist, Wake County Public School System
    “Melissa empowers all students to feel successful in learning. She has a special knack for teaching reading to all students. Melissa is positive; she is kind and caring to all. She works one-on-one with students and always provides incentives and positive feedback!”
  • Sara Harding, 2nd Grade Teacher. Carmel Clay Schools
    “Sara works effortlessly to provide the best-differentiated instruction to her students. She builds relationships with each child and meets them at their academic level as well as social-emotional level.”
  • Khaleigh Riley, 5th Grade Teacher, Gwinnett County Public School
    “Mrs. Riley shows her students so much love and care. She takes out time to meet their individual needs. She goes beyond the classroom to assist her students. If the students need extra help, she reaches out to other teachers for resources.”
