Classworks and Scantron Form Alliance

June 16, 2014

LAWRENCEVILLE, Georgia

Curriculum Advantage, Inc., developer of Classworks®, the online instructional solution for kindergarten through eighth grade, today announced an alliance with Scantron®, a leading provider of K-12 Interim/Formative assessment solutions. This expands the resources available to support educators in providing relevant, individualized instruction based upon student assessment results.

The alliance integrates Classworks with Scantron Performance Series® assessment solution, both recognized for delivering reliable and comprehensive data. Performance Series provides ongoing, relevant information in reading, language arts, mathematics, and life sciences. These fact-based insights help teachers more easily understand their students’ positions in the learning continuum and implement teaching plans to address difficulties more quickly.

Classworks imports Scantron's Performance Series assessment data for each student and creates customized assignments. Whether the goal of districts is to provide instruction based on the standards a student is struggling to learn, or to address explicit skills a student lacks to be on pace from year-to-year, Classworks provides unique individualized plans to strengthen comprehension, grow skills and accelerate students to higher performance levels.

“We are excited to continue expanding Classworks’ ability to put a district’s assessment data to work in a way that builds teacher capacity and improves student achievement,” said Melissa Sinunu, President of Classworks. “Instead of asking teachers to find the resources needed to meet each student where they are, this integration automates the process for all students,” she explained.

“Scantron is committed to developing opportunities that integrate assessment results with high-quality instructional material,” said Marissa Larsen, Vice President of Portfolio Planning & Strategy of Scantron. “The linking of assessment and instruction enables educators to target their planning for individual, group and classroom instructional needs. This helps students grow with enrichment and remediation learning opportunities. We are delighted to work with Classworks in this endeavor.”
