Classworks® Impacts Student Growth in Alabama

Students Using Classworks Showed Tremendous Gains on End of Year Assessment

PEACHTREE CORNERS, GA – July 13, 2018 – Alabama students who used Classworks® by Curriculum Advantage, Inc, a best-in-class online intervention solution, experienced tremendous growth on the end of year Scantron® assessment. A recent data study reveals that students using Classworks instruction during the 2017 - 2018 school year achieved gains well above average in every strand, for both reading and math.

Classworks analyzed the data from more than 27,000 students in Alabama. In mathematics, data was evaluated in Algebra, Data Analysis and Probability, Geometry, Measurement and Number and Operations. In Language Arts, data was evaluated in Fiction, Nonfiction, and Vocabulary. In every strand students who used Classworks experienced above average growth. In several areas students performed more than 20% better than average growth!

“I am proud of the work we’ve done as a district," says Marion County, AL School Superintendent Ryan Hollingsworth. "We wanted to empower our teachers with the tools to deliver targeted instruction to meet individual needs... The combination of dedicated teachers, motivated students, and the right instruction at the right time with Classworks has resulted in exactly what we hoped for–increased achievement!”

In eighth grade mathematics, where the curriculum tends to be more challenging for students and relies heavily on foundational skills, students who used Classworks saw more than 30% growth above average in three out of the five strands!

“It is exciting to see the growth as a result of the hard work of our educators and students,” says Tracy Burt, School Improvement Specialist in Marion County Schools, Alabama. “There are clear parallels with the time our students spend in Classworks and their gains.”

Classworks delivers individualized learning paths for students using assessment results from nationally-recognized assessments like Scantron, Alabama’s current state assessment, reducing the testing burden. Classworks helps school districts put buzzwords like data-driven instruction into action. As a result, teachers are able to identify skill deficiencies quickly and address them for every student automatically. Less testing, more learning.

“It is exciting to see the positive effect Classworks, in partnership with teachers, is having in Alabama. By connecting student assessment data to evidence-based instruction, Classworks helps students close achievement gaps quickly while building capacity for the teacher,” says Melissa Sinunu, Curriculum Advantage President.  “The powerful impact Classworks is having on student outcomes drives us to continue delivering the best individualized learning experience for students. ”
